Fuji Maestro, Alhaji Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Balogun, popularly known as Barrister or Barry Wonder is dead. He died at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London after a long battle with his health in the past few months.
He was 62. His death was confimed by one of his sons, Wale, popularly known as Barry Showkey, who spoke to the Nigerian Tribune from London.
About three months ago, Barrister was admitted to a German hospital,Before this, he had undergone surgery at an Indian hospital, but on his return to Nigeria, he developed some complications, and he travelled to Germany for further medical treatment.
While in Germany, news filtered through that Barrister had died. That news shook his fans and artistes who looked up to him for guidance, but he quickly came out to debunk the death rumour with his daughter, Barry Made also standing up against her father's death rumors.
Barrister was the creator of Fuji music in Nigeria.
Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Balogun was born in Lagos on February 9, 1948. After creating a genre of music, he named it Fuji, which he got from Mount Fuji, the Japanese Mountain of love. Fuji is a combination of the Were beat, Juju, Apala and traditional Yoruba praise poems.
Upon his discharge from the army, where he fought in the Nigerian civil war, Barrister formed his musical group, The Supreme Fuji Commanders.
One of his most popular albums "FUJI GARBAGE", rocked the nation for years.
Barrister, also known as Alhaji Agba, touched the lives of his fans in one way or the other through his music.
According to Yinka Ayefele, “the death of Sikiru Ayinde Barrister is still a shock to me. He was a great man and he created the Fuji music that is waxing stronger by the day. May God grant him eternal rest.
Former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, described his death as a big loss to the country. Oyinlola, in a statement, on Thursday, said, the death of Barrister had left the nation poorer, just as it had robbed the entertainment industry of one of its pillars.
The Oyo State governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, said the late Sikiru Ayinde would be missed for the message of his lyrics.
In a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Public Communications, Dotun Oyelade, the governor said the deceased was a world class entertainer when he was alive.

NIKKI LAOYE IS THE GUEST CELEBRITY JUDGE FOR THE GLO NAIJA SINGS' LOVE SONGS EDITION
Stunning Christian Contemporary recording artist, Nikki Laoye was the Celebrity Guest Judge in the Love Edition of the ongoing music reality talent series, Glo Naija Sings this past week.
With Niniola dropping out for personal reasons and Moses being the first officially voted out of the competition, the Top 8 comprising of Boma, Da Brodas, Rasine, Ekeng, Shedrack, Casey, Najite, Peace stormed the stage with wonderful perfomances of great popular love songs at the show that night.
Marked with its usual hillarious comments from the audience at the end of each contestant's performance, the show was sealed with constructive criticism and observations by the guest celebrity judge of the week, Nikki Laoye.
Her Highlights for the night were Ekeng (for being a matured singer with diction, expression all on point); Da Brodas (for their soothing harmony blends which give rise to goose bumps) and Rasine (asides from having the same hair-do as Nikki, she got so much passion and her song expression is highly convincing)
Her Lowlight for the night was Peace; for depending too much on the backing vocals and not taking complete charge of her song.
The Resident Judge,Tosin Martins, called Ekeng, the masterful one and Rasine - the sneaky one rising up from the back in no time. He also tagged Peace as his lowlight for the night.
It was a great show but the heat is still on, for the road to the grand prize of a 100,000 US Dollars can be full of many twists and turns.
So keep voting for your favorite contestants by sending their numbers to 33364 or vote on the Naija Sings website.
Great job, Nikki. The Wahala Media Family is proud of you. Thumbs up, gal.

Everyone loves a bag of goodies and so do i. And that's what i call Lara George's self titled sophomore album....a beautiful bag of goodie tunes- "Run with you", "Ko le baje", "Komasi" and many more, adding more color to the huge success of her first album which included the major hit single,"Ijoba Orun"
Now Lara George has released a third video for the bubbly praise track "Halleluyah" featuring Patricia King Uwaje of Midnight Crew. Directed by Wudi on the streets of Lagos with interesting cameos by Obiwon, Bouqui, Tosin Martins, Lamboginny as they handled different musical instruments on the bandstand set of the video.
The video can be described in two words....Simple and Beautiful. So i call it a "Simply Beautiful" piece of art.
Watch out for "Komasi" video coming soon PLUS... two more exciting video singles

NEWS: THE 25TH THAT NEVER HAPPENED - "REMEMBERING THE CEO- DAGRIN"
25th of October 2010 came along like every other day but to Mr. and Mrs. Olaniyi Abolaji Olaonipekun, friends, fans and family- It was a day to remember and celebrate the birth of a great star now gone to sleep...DAGRIN
Da Grin, formerly known as Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun would have turned a year older on the 25th of October 2010, instead we are left to remember the enigma that passed through the earth for a brief moment before moving on to the other side.
He passed away on April 22nd, 2010, after complications from a car accident, eight days before as the late rapper’s car ran into a parked lorry in front of Alakara Police station, Mushin. He was buried amidst throngs of thousands of fans at Ebony Private Vault, Atan cemetary on Friday April 30th, 2010.
Dagrin ,26, was a recording artiste, songwriter, rapper and performer. He was signed to his own label Missofunyin Entertainment and managed by Edlyne.
His sophomore album, THE CEO, got mad attention and quadrupled in sales after his demise and the speaker-banging chart burster single off the album- "Pon Pon Pon" keeps gathering more and more awards as the year rolls by.
Close friend YQ, has dedicated “Miss You” a tribute song composed by him for Dagrin, taken from his current album, "I AM YQ."
In YQ’s words: “Dagrin remains evergreen in my heart- a true friend and a brother things are not the same without him here, but I’ll continue do all i can to keep his footprints alive, i miss him a lot”
HIS LYRICS..still on the lips of every boy and girl on the streets; HIS MUSIC....still playing on every DJ's turntable; HIS VOICE...loud and clear through the speakers on every corner.
Da Grin, you will greatly be missed and you'll always be dear to the hearts of the entire Wahala Media Family.
We love you and we remember you today...sleep on beloved!!

NEWS: UTI NWACHUKWU OF NIGERIA WINS BIG BROTHER ALL STARS!!!
Its been 91 days of fun and at the end of it all Uti Nwachukwu has won the Big Brother All stars taking the US Dollars 200,000 prize plus the one thousand dollars after fellow housemates failed to guess his secret. The show kicked off with highlights of the five finalists before crossing to the evicted housemates that came on stage one by one.
Sammy led the evicted housemates followed by our own Hannington Kuteesa who the crowd cheered for some minutes before other evicted housemates joined to be part of the show. When Meryl came on stage, she was asked to choose between the money and the man, she chose her man Mwisho.
The first housemate to leave the house was Sheila from Kenya who said that it was hectic being in the house for 91 days but now she is going to have fun. Mwisho followed her in that order leaving behind three housemates i.e. Lerato, Munya and Uti.
Mwisho left with his $ 1,000 as no one got his secret which was to do with dating twoTanzanian babes at the same time and when they learnt of it, bottles were exchanged over their heads.
The third housemate to leave the house after Mwisho, and Sheila had left was Lerato. Its funny how Lerato beats Mwisho a bonafide finalist and yet for her she fluked to bounce back to the house after a game/twist that was put up by Big Brother. This is what marked the closure of the barn house.
This was followed by a music interlude that saw Wyre on stage do his ''Say Dat'' track before IK bounced back with how one MNET Official felt about the show and among others she noted the proposal in the house plus the barn house which were very unique when it came to the Big Brother All Stars.
The man who has made every woman on the African continent feel like a queen came on stage and this was none other than 2Face Idibia and shortly after, it was time to know the winner of the Big Brother Africa All Stars and the winner was Uti with 8 countries voting for him and 7 countries for Munya who was in shock.
The Big Brother All stars kicked off on July 18 with 14 contestants from 14 countries and has been broadcasting live on channel 198 which was exclusive to those on DSTV. Uganda was represented by Hanningtion Kuteesa who got disqualified after a fight with South Africa's Lerato who finished third in the popular live television show that ended on July 17, 2010.
