It's really good to see Nigerians stepping up to help one another these days...all thanks to the almighty Blackberry and social media sites that enable  messages to be passed across speedily.

Funmilola Lawal, the lady with cancer on her shoulder had Don Jazzy donating 2 million towards her impending surgery as well as other artistes and fellow nigerians who donated 1,000 naira each and in no time, all the monies she required had been received in donations.

In quick succession, help was needed once again and voila! Nigerians stepped in quickly once again to help save another life.

This time, a lab technician, Idiagbonya Osarere Debbie who has been diagnosed with a non-malignant lump in her breast, needing N6M for surgical operation to remove the already infected mammary glands.

Davido, Halima Abubakar, Ruggedman and few others have already contributed towards the surgery and today, another artiste has been confirmed to have donated to save Debbie.

The popular R&B singer and Omotena crooner, SolidStar has donated N1 million naira towards this as well. 

N4.5M has been realised so far and really, i say , this is an amazing recent development.

Nigerians are looking out for one another and i do hope the government and all the major players out there would take note from young people, stepping in to make a change in the lives of their fellow peers.

will.i.am Teams With NASA To Premiere new single ‘Reach For The Stars’ From PLANET MARS!!!

Artists and their reps are selective when picking an outlet to premiere their new music. Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am just raised the bar. On Tuesday, the "I Got A Feeling" rapper debuted his new single, "Reach For The Stars," from Mars -- not a nightclub named after the Red Planet, but the actual celestial body located fourth from the sun in the solar system.

The rapper and producer, who is big on science and technology, teamed with NASA to broadcast the uplifting song via the Curiosity Rover that landed on Mars earlier this month.

For the premiere, will.i.am joined NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California for an educational event to speak to students about Mars, play the song and explain the technology used for the transmission.

The song lyrics use space as a metaphor for achieving goals. "Why do they say that the sky is the limit when we have footprints on the moon," will.i.am raps. "I know the sky might be high … Let's reach for the stars."

will.i.am said the partnership with NASA is a dream come true. "I had no idea that one day I would have a meeting at NASA, and I never thought that in a billion years a song would hitch a ride on a rocket and when it lands on Mars it would be beamed back to earth," he said in a video statement.

will didn't create an electronic pop sound for "Reach For The Stars." "Reach" features a children's choir and an orchestra. "I don't think it's a right thing to do to send a computer beat to Mars," he said. "So I wanted to put an orchestra together to show human collaboration, exercising their skills, their craft. That robot is going to Mars but a piece of humanity, art, is going as well."

Last year, will.i.am and Dean Kamen produced i.am.FIRST — Science Is Rock And Roll, a one-hour ABC special that covered the 20^th annual FIRST robotics competition for high school students.

The "Kemi Adetiba directed-Video" for Da Grin's 'If I Die' Remix feat. Styles P, SDC & Nasty J..COMING SOON!

The video for the remix of the last song recorded by the late rap maverick, Da Grin has been shot. The remix which features American rapper Styles P, Show Dem Camp and Nasty J would be released soon, Tec of Show Dem Camp divulged to 30 minutes Source with Dro Ameh on Truspot Radio.

Styles P's scene was shot in New York while the Nigerian rappers' bit was done in Lagos by director Kemi Adetiba. 'It is nothing like you have seen', one half of the hiphop duo - Show Dem Camp added.

He also informed that a series of singles would be released soon as well as a mixtape - Clone Wars II, videos and a re-packaged 'The Dreamer's Project' album would also be released in the future from Show Dem Camp. Jarmeu also spoke to host Dro Ameh on how the viral LMAO cover of 'Scapegoat' hit song originally by D'banj was made as well as suave TV personality cum Rapper who teamed up with Femi Kuti for 'teacher teacher', he speaks on sundry issues including how the collaboration was made and the future collaboration with Tiwa Savage, who was his co-host for the Nigerian Idol.

NEWS: SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI ANNOUNCES THE INTRODUCTION OF 5,000 NAIRA NOTES

Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has made an announcement today, Thursday August 23rd 2012 of the upcoming introduction of 5000 Naira notes . Also 5, 10 and 20 naira will leave the notes colony and become... coins...all this is expected to kick off next year .

On the note will be the faces of three renowned Nigerian female leaders –  Hajiya Gambo Sawaba, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti and Margaret Ekpo. 

Hajiya Gambo Sawaba

Despite low education, coming from the northern part of Nigeria where women are least encouraged and their education neglected, and forced into early marriage at age 16, Hajiya Sawaba struggled through all these obstacles to emerge as a sweet, dynamic, independent political activist helping to educate many people.

Like most of her contemporaries, she sowed the seed for the on-going emancipation of African women from the African tradition and the structures of the African nation-states.

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti (1900-1978) was a Nigerian feminist who fought for suffrage and equal rights for her countrywomen long before the second wave of the women's movement in the United States. She also joined the struggle for Nigerian independence as an activist in the anti-colonial movement. Described by many as the mother of women's rights in Nigeria, she was regarded in her time as "The Mother of Africa."

Chief Margaret Ekpo

A giant of 20th century Nigerian politics, and a pioneer activist of women’s rights. A fierce defender of women’s rights, Margaret Ekpo never apologized for being a woman and that, it can be argued, was her greatest strength. With grace of carriage, she stood her ground as an equal of men, representing women resolutely and with great dignity in multiple capacities.

It had been earlier speculated, when rumors of the 5,000 notes arose some months back, that late Ojukwu’s image would be placed on the N5,000 note but this obviously is not the case with the recent statement from Lamido.

Outcries have begun on the seeming devaluation of the Nigerian Currency with this development in the pipelines.

DEMMY makes an impressive come-back with “TUALE” [prod. By Irich]

His first official single on the music scene was the Samklef-produced track titled “Padi B4” which featured the “Hotter than Fire” Fuji crooner – T.Code [who recently released “Iwa” featuring 9ice]. He came up with a couple of songs [unreleased] and in 2010, he released “Free for All” featuring Lawale, and this came through with a music video directed by Sammy. Due to school prowess, he stayed off the music scene [but kept recording at the studio] and now, he’s back with a brand new tune which would definitely become another sizzling “street anthem”.

On perfect kicks, and infectious tunes of melodious synths and percussion sounds as laced on an instrumental by Irich [Fresh Beat], Demmy makes an impressive come-back on to the music scene with his brand new innovative single titled “Tuale”. “Tuale”, which is one of the street slangs used by Nigerians to say “salute” is totally infectious from the moment you hit the “PLAY” button and it’s not just going to stay as another street anthem, but would go on to the clubs/dance floors and in an unsuspecting manner, it would also fit everyone’s playlist due to its deep lyrical content.
