Woman Rising 2014 is scheduled to hold on the weekend of Saturday 15th
March and Sunday 16th March 2014 and will feature a diverse group of
talented and highly skilled female musicians across various music genres. The
arts weekender will also highlight some of Nigeria’s most exciting female
writers and notions in literature with special literary showcases, conversations
and panel discussions and the pivotal presentation of new book, Indigo, by
Molara Wood.
This year's edition will feature dazzling live performances by Waje, Aramide, Diwari, Perpetua, Dupe Kachi, Lala, Modele, Nana Aisha and Fatima together with Sian Thomas of the U.K and Pilani Bubu of South Africa.
Musical performances will be dotted through the night with poetry interludes led by special guest poets Bassey Ikpi and Wana Udobang and with a number of surprise star performances and readings.

Title: Letters and The Lady Literary Salon
Activity: The evening will feature a literary reading and conversation showcase further celebrating women and the arts (this event will focus on sharing literature and the art of letters). Molara Wood’s debut collection of short stories, Indigo, will receive a special Lagos outing at this event coupled with a book signing and Q+A with the author. Excerpts from select bestselling prose and theatre literature, poetry collections and spoken word repertoires will be recited and shared between the audience and special guest panelists.
Of special focus will be all 3 female-authored shortlisted books of the 2014 Etisalat Prize for Literature. Lively conversation will propel guests into the final segment of the evening as special guests will read and discuss Letters to Our Younger and Our Older Selves, an electrifying theme which the WOMAN RISING 2014 project hopes will provide insight and inspiration that lingers. This powerful literary and female empowering event is not to be missed!
