IS WOLE OJO "THE CHILD"?

Each year, thousands of hopefuls apply to be chosen as one of the Amstel Malta Box Office Housemates. The show begins and for weeks, everyone is glued to the TV set, waiting the emergence of a new star from the AMBO galaxy. The 4th edition held the same magic in 2009 and soon enough, a new king was crowned. His name: WOLE OJO

Born on the 6th of june 1984, and now a graduate of the Creative Arts Dept, in the University of Lagos, Adewole Ojo's love for the arts blossomed at a tender age with his career as a professional actor starting at the age of nine. In the 90's he featured in children's series;"Kidivision 101" and hit family sitcom "One Big Family" both which aired on NTA. This two engagements spanned across a period of six years.
He has also featured in a few television series which include; The Maze, Everyday People, One Love, This Life and Haven.
His debut stage performance (at age 11) was in commemoration of a children's day celebration at the NIIA (Nigerian Institute of International Affairs), sponsored by UNICEF. He has since moved on to perform in works likes Wole Soyinka's The Lion and The Jewel, Femi Osofisan's Red is the Freedom Road, Ahmed Yerima's Ade Ire, Lekan Balogun's Moremi Ajasoro and Oya, and many more.

He also has a number of plays to his credit as a Director, and they include Wale Ogunyemi's Langbodo, Bode Osanyin's Beer Parlour Philosophy, Moliere's A Doctor in Spite of Himself and excerpts from William Shakespeare's Macbeth. He has worked with the likes of Sadiq Daba, Tunde Kelani, Tajudeen Adepetu, Wale adenuga,Izu Ojukwu, Charles Novia, Wasiu Onatilo, Antar Laniyan, Pat Oghere, Kingsley Omoefe, Micheal Udoh, Tunji Shotimirin, Joke silva, Bukky Ajayi, Alex Usifor, Funke Akindele, Olumide Bakare, ‎​Tamilore Kuboye, Denrele Edun, Lekan Balogun, Femi Oke and many more.

He emerged winner of the fourth edition of the Amstel Malta Box Office Reality T.V Show (2008/2009), and stared in the movie "The Child", a movie that received nine AMAA nominations (including his nomination for the category; most promising actor), as well as representing the brand; Amstel Malta as brand Ambassador. He recently won an award for Best Student Actor at The Peak Awards (2010) and just concluded a movie titled "Maami"-produced & directed by Tunde Kelani of Main frame production, which featured the likes of Funke Akindele, Olumide Bakare,‎​Tamilore Kuboye (former Queen Afrik), the movie is to be released this year 2011. He currently features on MNET hit series "Tinsel".

A very busy young man, you must say. And a very talented actor too.
Now its your chance to watch him set the screen ablaze in the recently released DVD edition of the AMBO movie : THE CHILD, starring Wole Ojo, alongside acting veterans Joke Silva, Buky Ajayi and Alex Usifo Omiagbo.

THE CHILD: Synopsis of the Movie

Directed by Izu Ojukwu, ‘The Child’ revolves around a Benin town’s expectation of a ‘child’ promised the community by the gods. The advent of the child will see to the end of the town’s problems which include drought and recurrent war defeats, especially against the strong army of Ijogun.

Two children, at least as far as we can tell, are born on the said night; one is by the widowed queen Ifueko, played by Joke Silva, whose uncle the Iyase (Alex Usifo) is the regent. Another woman gives birth to a son. The rains return, wars are won and a basket mysteriously retains water after the boys are born. As long as the basket holds water, the community knows their special one is still alive. As both boys grow up, so does the competition between them as both are intent to prove their ‘childship,’ despite the fact that all have accepted the crown prince Nosa (or Omo as his mother calls him) as the special one (Edaeke).
