KEMI LALA AKINDOJU TAKES LEAD ROLE IN TUNDE KELANI'S "DAZZLING MIRAGE" MOVIE

Dazzling Mirage, the much anticipated movie by renowned cinematographer Tunde Kelani, is set to hit the cinemas on Friday, 20 February, 2015.

The emotional movie is a love story which revolves around a sickler who against all odds embarks on a journey for survival, overcoming social stigma and prejudice. The movie helps to raise awareness about the sickle cell condition and to help people make better and informed decisions.

"Dazzling Mirage is an inspiring story which I recommend for people, not just to watch but to take home its rich laden message" said Lala, who played the leading role in the movie. "It is an answer to a call and this movie is a must watch for everyone" she added.

The suspense filled and intriguing movie profiles notable figures from Nollywood actors like Kemi 'lala' Akindoju, Kunle Afolayan, Seun Akindele, Taiwo Ajayi – Lycett, Bimbo Manuel, Carol King, Yomi Fash Lanso, amongst others.

"Dazzling mirage is not just a movie, there is no such thing like a level playing ground in life,  the choice is out there to make if we want to make our society a sickle cell free from the pains we put ourselves and others through" said Tunde Kelani, the producer of the film.

Shot in Lagos, the movie is an adaptation of a novel of the same name authored by Olayinka Abimbola Egbokhare, and adapted to screen by Ade Solanke. This film about love, perseverance and fate unfolds through a sickler's experience in life struggle. It was first premiered at the Muson Centre Lagos, and has enjoyed a nationwide tour spreading its message of hope and survival to people.

About Kemi Lala Akindoju

Kemi Lala Akindoju is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, thespian, producer and drama teacher. The Youngest person to ever produce the international play V. Monologues, Lala Akindoju cut her teeth as a stage actor appearing in over 70 productions since 2005. 

Lala is a talent scout who has created several new stars with her Open Mic Theatre and has professionally consulted for MTV, Ndani TV, amongst others in the area of talent. She has also consulted for several art projects with the British Council, the iRep film Festival, Woman rising festival amongst others.

SINGER/HUMANITARIAN, NIKKI LAOYE KICKS OFF THE ANGEL RELIEF FUND INITIATIVE FOR INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS AND REFUGEES

In the spirit of love this valentine season, Award winning singer Nikki Laoye has just announced the new project from her Angel 4 Life Foundation tagged "THE ANGEL RELIEF FUND", to provide care and support for the internally displaced persons and refugees in Nigeria.

Last year, Nikki Laoye was unveiled by the government establishment - NCFRMI SouthWest zone (National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons) as the Celebrity Voice of Refugees - to bring to the forefront the activities of the NCFRMI as well as the plight of refugees, internally displaced persons and other persons of concern. In line with her service as an ambassador for the commission, Nikki Laoye and her foundation have set up "The Angel Relief Fund - TARF" to further support the ongoing relief works for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees within Nigeria, who have been badly hit by the present scourge of violence, terrorism and natural disasters.

Speaking about the initiative, Nikki Laoye says "It is really a sad situation in the north for our fellow brothers and sisters and we do pray for God's help and strength to our troops to quench this invasion once and for all. In the meantime, We have to look out for our own and do what we can to soothe their pains. They are in constant need of food, water , clothing and more to survive daily. Lets spread some love this season and beyond, kindly Donate what you can and we will ensure it gets across to them".

The Angel Relief Fund aims to raise funds for the purchase of relief materials and other amenities for onward distribution to IDP camps and Refugee shelters across Nigeria which will be supervised by Angel 4 Life Foundation and the NCFRMI Southwest office.

The NCFRMI Southwest Zonal Office, which is located in Ikoyi-Lagos, caters for incidences in the Southwest Zone of Nigeria and presently runs a Safe House in Ikorodu for Refugees and Assylum Seekers from countries such as Libya, Syria, Mali, Cote D'ivoire, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Sudan.

The Commisision is also in the process of setting up a Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons Resettlement Resource Centre in Lagos, which will offer lodgings, counselling, training, mentorship for their proper reintegration back into the society.

NCFRMI was established by the Federal Government on 23rd August 1989 and has several working affiliations with agencies such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) , ECOWAS, IOM (International Organization for Migration) and ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross).

Multiple Award-winning Recording Artiste, Nikki Laoye recently hosted a select group of fans, celebrities and friends to an intimate and cosy Album Listening/Video Release Party for her sophomore studio album The 123 Project (Deluxe Edition) and her smashing hot new video, African Dance. The event, which held at the prestigious FAB Lounge in Ikeja G.R.A. was powered by Girls Rock Africa (an initiative of Nikki Laoye) in conjunction with FAB Lounge and Praiseworld Radio (2014 Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards - “Best Online Radio Station”).

Hosted by Veteran Comedienne Mandy  (who kept everyone in stitches for the duration of the event) alongside Praiseworld Radio CEO, Tola Omoniyi aka SpiceOnTheMic, the event kicked off with exciting solo performances by Sokleva (Rooftop Mcs), Xblaze , Base One  and contemporary Inspirational artistes such as Giftberries, Provabs, C-Stas, Nolly and XL2Letters.

Comedians Open Teeth and Grand Komanda also took turns in dishing out rib-cracking jokes and kept the crowd thrilled all through the event.

The event provided a rare opportunity for Nikki Laoye’s fans and colleagues to experience the eclectic blend of Nikki’s music, as they were treated to electrifying performances of songs from the new album with the support of the Alien Nation Dance Team and some of the album’s featuring artistes including ace producer/artiste Xblaze, Baseone, Sokleva of Rooftop MCs and Presh P.

The eclectic singer/rapper kicked off her set with her catchy rap anthem “Cant Hold Me Down” to the delight of her fans and friends and then took the audience on a melodic journey as she performed acoustic versions of Only You, 123, Mighty God and Joy Comes as well as the hit dance numbers – “Taka Sufe” , “Your Number”, “Loyal” , “African Dance” and “123” alongside Xblaze, Baseone, Sokleva of Rooftop MCs and Presh P.

The singer officially launched her new album, The 123 Project (Deluxe Edition) which also features DJ Jimmy Jatt, Niyola, Karl Nova  and further defined her musical territory to her fans – an eclectic mix in three main expressions of God, Love & Life, which incidentally forms the three chapters of the new album.

She also encouraged inspirational artists to make more music that deals with relationships and life issues as these are also important areas that need to be addressed in the daily life of an average Christian.
