VMAs 2017 BAGS LOWEST WATCHED RATING IN HISTORY & KATY PERRY'S LACKLUSTER HOST PERFORMANCE IS GETTING THE BLAME FOR IT.

The ratings are in and it’s not looking too good for Katy Perry. The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards were the least watched of all-time.

According to Nielsen, only 5.68 million people tuned in to celebrate music’s hottest young stars on Sunday (Aug. 27), making it the lowest-rated VMAs EVER—or, at least since Nielsen began tracking the show’s ratings in 1994. Viewership was down from the 6.5 million it pulled last year and a far cry from its rating high of 11.9 million in 2002.

The awards show had stiff competition though, as it went up against the season finale of Game of Thrones, which hit a series high with 12.07 million viewers. However, the VMAs did beat the HBO fantasy drama in its key teenager demographic.

The VMA ratings have been on a steady decline for years. However, this could be attributed to more people choosing to watch the annual MTV show online. There were reportedly 45.8 million streams on the live Facebook feed last year and 62.8 million streams total when other platforms are added.

Unfortunately, the bad news just gets worse for VMA host Katy Perry though. Critics and viewers panned her cringe-worthy attempt at emceeing the show. She was so bad that American Idol producers are now reportedly worried about her sitting at the judge’s table, especially since they shoved out half of their talent budget to secure the pop star.

A source tells Radar Online:

“They are paying her $25 million and she was a total dud [on the VMAs]. No one ever auditioned her for the new Idol job and they are freaking out that they hired someone who is terrible on live television.”

The source also added the ABC reboot showrunners want Perry to be less self-absorbed in order to keep the focus on the contestants.

“It’s not like they’re asking her to change her hairstyle or revise her style team, but they are asking her not to upstage the contestants the way some past judges, especially Mariah Carey, had the tendency to do.”

ABC has yet to hire any other judges for the American Idol reboot. To be honest, Katy Perry was a bad pick from the start and now her horrible VMA hosting only reaffirmed it.

CARDI B ROCKS VMAs PRE-SHOW STAGE WITH HER "BODAK YELLOW" PERFORMANCE

It’s hard to believe that two years ago, most of us didn’t even know what a “Cardi B” was, and now, she’s all over the radio and performing at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

After becoming internet famous via Instagram and landing a starring role on Love & Hip Hop, Cardi B has glowed all the way up and is living her best life.

Cardi’s debut single “Bodak Yellow” is now the #3 song in the country (jumping up from #8 the week before), proving that she’s correct in her assertion that lil bitches can’t fuck with her, even if they wanted to.

No, she didn’t perform on the main stage, but you can’t deny that homegirl, accompanied by two backup dancers, slayed the FAWK outta that pre-show stage!

Cardi was all over the place, but in a good way. If she keeps this momentum up and has a hit single by the time the 2018 VMAs roll around, we wouldn’t be surprised if she’s invited to perform during the actual show.

GOSPEL SINGER, TASHA COBBS & NICKI MINAJ - THE COLLABORATION, THE CONTROVERSY

Gospel music songstress,Tasha Cobbs Leonard  released her album ‘Heart.Passion.Pursuit’  last Friday August 25th.

The album features the rap mogul Nicki Minaj on a song titled “I’m Getting Ready.” and Tasha has been expressing her excitement over Minaj’s decision to praise God.

She shared a heartfelt message to Nicki Minaj, appreciating her for boldly expressing her love for God.

“I want to take a moment to appreciate my friend @nickiminaj!!! Thank you for shouting your praise for the world to hear and for putting your love for God on display.”

The ‘Break every chain‘ crooner then went ahead to say a prayer for the hip-hop rapper adding that she believes Minaj’s verse on the song can help people draw closer to God.

“As I tell you often, I’ll say it for the world to hear… I will forever cover you in prayer! Many will be blessed and have an authentic God encounter because of the stand you chose to make with this record and THAT is all that matters!!!”

On her verse for the song, Minaj raps about God helping her overcome poverty.

“Beach house vibes maneuver the jet ski, cause I serve the God that parted the red sea Multi-million dollar commercials for Pepsi, from food-stamps to more ice than Gretzky.”

The rap mogul also goes on to speak against her opposition in the song.

“I don’t gotta talk the Lord defends me, I watch them all fall for going against me, cause me and all my angels shot the devil up.

While you was trying to pull me down I leveled up.”

After telling people to “prepare for a miracle blessing in these times,” Minaj decides to close her verse with her version of Proverbs 18:21.

“Now praise Him, raise Him, name it, claim it. Every tongue that rises up against me, shame it.

I breathe success in and out my lungs. Got the power of life and death coming out my tongue.”

Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s signature powerful voice can be heard leading a choir on the chorus of the song where they sing, “I’m getting ready to see something I’ve never seen.”

The 36-year-old gospel music singer had previously received backlash for working with Minaj, a mainstream rapper who hasn’t shied away from using vulgar language in her music.

However, Tasha  took to her Instagram page to defend the rapper with Romans 14:1 from the MSG Bible.

“Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.

And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with—even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.

Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently.”

She went on to use hashtags to tell people that the 34-year-old rapper born as Onika Maraj might have a better relationship with God than some Christian critics.

It’s intense, it’s real and very deep. Just thinking about how God has showed me so many things every time I take a trip to Africa and I am amazed – for them worship is essential and a lifestyle.

The project also features another Grammy Awards winning artist Israel Houghton, South Africa’s iconic worship leader Lionel Peterson and one of Nigeria’s very best, Frank Edwards.

Spaghetti Records released the compilation video titled "PowerFlow Videos" for Gospel music minister Monique in July. The video goes beyond putting together the works of the wave making Gospel music artiste but also shows her personality in a dynamic way.

We met forehand the professional singer and the anointed minister. We are giving a first seat view into how the 2 elements come together to create excellence in her ministry. As a family oriented person, Monique gives praises to God for the lives around her. She speaks explicitly about the certain members of her family of whom she is grateful to God for their presence in her life, and how their influence has impressed on her qualities.

Due to the multi faceted persona of this music diva, it's easy to create a frame for her in one's mind. Monique also set this straight without making a frantic effort to justify herself. She opened up the scope that makes up Monique and leaves the audience with the privilege of making conclusion based on this scope.

"It is very easy to watch my videos and conclude on who I am, it is also very easy to read about me in some certain places and conclude on who I am... but I am more than [what you see on] the surface" - Monique.

Victories are certainly motivation that makes us believe God for greater testimonies. The same is true for the Gospel music diva. Being a wife, a mother, a child and a student can definitely weigh on a ministry such as that of a singer but Monique tells us the secret behind her balance - but you will have to watch the video to find out.

Following the release of her new praised single "Knack Am", Yemi Alade has confirmed that her third studio album will be hitting stores this year. The LP which follows Alade's previous successful albums "King of Queens" and "Mama Africa", is titled "Black Magic".

The Voice Nigeria coach/judge took to her social media to reveal the set's details with a haunting album reveal image which disclosed the title and the release month of the body of music. She also gifted an Instagram follower, the sum of one hundred thousand naira of guessing the album title following her promoting the hashtag #BM on social media.

Fans of music should brace up because "Black Magic" would be available in its entirety come October of 2017. Although details regarding album artwork, tracklist, collaborations and producers remain unknown; the DJ Coublon produced "Knack Am" is confirmed to be housed on the album and serves as the set's lead single.

Organised by Nikki Laoye's Angel 4 Life Foundation in partnership with The Palms Mall Lekki, The Someone 2 Love Awareness Project aims to support, empower and celebrate the strengths and achievements of its beneficiaries which include physically challenged youths, internally displaced families and refugees in Nigeria.

Nikki Laoye’s Angel 4 Life Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable organisation, founded by multiple award winning female Nigerian Recording Artiste, Nikki Laoye in 2010.

An elated Tim Godfrey expressed the optimism that it would be a day that those who turn up would remember for a long time to come, “We have been praying, fasting, seeking the face of God for months towards this meeting and we believe it is going to be a time of divine encounter with God”, He said. 

With over 11,000 worshippers expected in attendance, The Rock Cathedral of The House of The Rock, Lekki has been a beehive of activities as last minute touches are being put in place for the sound, light and stage sets for an historic event and a benchmark for creative live expression of praise and worship in the African Continent.

The Fearless Wrshp Concert
