Emmy describes her musical style as richly African - afro fusion and patriotic. She further describes it as a source of Inspiration to her audience.

She has five albums, some of her highly acclaimed songs includes ‘taunet nelel’ ‘Ategisin’, ‘ololo’, among many, which have won her numerous awards on local and international music scene. She has won BEFTA AWARDS UK, AGMA AWARDS UK, OVER 10 GROOVE AWARDS, EAM AWARDS, HEAD OF STATE COMMENDATION BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA.

MEDIA PERSONALITY, TOLU "TOOLZ" ONIRU-DEMUREN LAUNCHES LINGERIE LINE, "SABLIER"

Popular media personality, Tolu ‘Toolz’ Oniru-Demuren recently launched Sablier (“Sab-Lee-Ay”), a premium fuller bust lingerie line. Sablier – which is French for ‘hourglass’ – was created to cater to the often overlooked plus-sized market.

Toolz who reflected on her experience growing up as a full-bodied woman further detailed her journey towards accepting her body shape and size. 

“The journey to accepting my body hasn’t been easy. As a curvy girl, you tend to feel out of place - my body type wasn’t the hot thing back then. I just didn’t fit in,” she said.

“I want ladies, irrespective of their size or body types, to be confident and love themselves, and essentially embrace their beautiful, because beauty is from within and is not dependent on what society dictates.”

She further explains that it took her some time to come to a breakthrough about seeing herself through a lens of body positivity. That change in perspective was something she wanted to share, but not just through words. 

Toolz who took a course in lingerie and swimwear design at the prestigious and award-winning London College of Fashion to get in-depth knowledge of the lingerie market, reiterated that her struggle to find brands that cater exclusively to her body size was a motivating factor in creating the Sablier brand.

“A huge part of my personal journey was finding clothing, lingerie and apparel options that catered specifically to my needs as a curvy woman. I didn’t find a lot of options in Nigeria, and most often would shop when I travelled,” she said.

It’s only natural that I take on the challenge of providing comfortable but attractive options for plus-size African women who struggle with finding brands that cater to them.”

Pieces from the lingerie line will be available online and in select stores with sizes ranging from 34/36D, with a few selected bra lines going up to size 42J(UK).

The tour which has seen the powerhouse sell out venues in London, France, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Belgium etc,, came to an historic end as Alade treated fans who filled up the halls of the iconic Melkweg, with a mind-blowing performance. Prolific and revered Gospel singer, songwriter and musician Gabriel Eziashi returns in 2018 with two excellent new music videos, for his latest singles ‘Lifted’ and ‘Yahweh’, produced by Mr Shabz (who has worked with the likes of Sammie Okposo, Nikki Laoye, Sonnie Badu), and taken from his forthcoming fifth studio album titled Lifted, which is set to be released later this year, on September 23, 2018.

Directed by Joel ‘Kachi Benson, who has previously worked with the likes of Cobhams Asuquo, as well as some of the biggest brands across Africa, among others, the videos for ‘Lifted’ and ‘Yahweh’ were shot on location in Dallas, Texas, and capture two polar opposite visual themes, to give audiences a varied viewing experience, while listening to both singles.

LIFTED 

The video for ‘Lifted’ is a gloriously scenic affair, which sees Gabriel Eziashi tapping into the natural outdoors of Prayer Mountain in Texas, to give praise to God for lifting us up above our circumstances,

YAHWEH

while the ‘Yahweh’ video is a more stripped back studio visual cut, which relies on Gabriel’s performance prowess, and charming personality, to bring the God-revering record further to life.

A veteran of over two decades, Gabriel Eziashi has worked with the likes of Helen Baylor, Donnie McClurkin, Chevelle Franklin, Muyiwa (Riversongz), MOBO Award winner Yolanda Brown, Tye Tribet, Tasha Cobbs, Nathaniel Bassey, and Mike Aremu, among others. Eziashi also serves as worship leader at the Festival Of Life, where he ministers to over 60,000 Christian revellers every year.

Speaking about the inspiration for ‘Lifted’ and ‘Yahweh’, Gabriel Eziashi says, “These songs come from a personal walk with God. During trials, what we see most as human are the issues at hand, but God on the other hand, sees opportunities and breakthrough. No matter what is happens in life, please understand that there is God, who understands everything – so rest on HIM at all times”.
