WAHOLAAA'S TOP 10 SONGS OF 2010

2010 was a year of non-stop beats, sounds and rhythms in the Nigerian Music Industry. Our Radios and Televisions had a constant barage of songs and videos in our ears and faces on a daily basis. Some were super cool and some made us cringe and go- "ENOUGH!"
And some caused serious "wahala" for the dancefloors at every party, wedding or club as both the young and old rocked in total abandon.

Based on constant radio airplay, TV play, Phone play, iPod play, People play and all available play (lol!), Here is the official top 10 song list for the year 2010 from waHOLAAA! to you:
  1. Ice Prince – "Oleku"  – …This song had to be No 1 after I stopped once at a malam's shop and the song started playing from his phone. That's It. The song was just everywhere. The Prince of Cool made quite an entrance with this maaaad hit song of the year. He's certainly moved from low to apex and his accounts are fat and shapeless right about now."Feeling the Boi" has become the latest slogan on the naija scene and Brymo makes all the ladies shiver as he sweetly rings out this unforgettable hook with Mr Zamani harmonizing along. (Y'all didn know that was him, right?)
Big Ups to Ice Prince Zamani, Brymo and the Choc family for being the #1 waHOLAAA! song of 2010.

  2. 2face Idibia – "Implication" – One of the most popular songs of 2010. A serious club banger, no DJ turn table was complete without this song seeping from his wheels. Being the 1st single off his international release of his album "UNSTOPPABBLE", 2Face got every fan on an implicated frenzy with ease.
  3. 2face Idibia –"Only Me"– The catchy yoruba chorus with its deep insightful meaning got across to the avid listener at the snap of the first line. Within the the first few weeks of the video release, the song was on the lips of every man, woman, boy and girl. Another hit from "The Unstoppable "Collection.

  4. D’banj – "Mr Endowed" – The Koko Master did it again. Adding to the ever increasing naija slogan vocabulary, “Mr Endowed” took its spot in no time. A massive club banger backed up with a cool video. Talks of a remix with Snoop Dogg to be released early 2011.

  5. Kas – "Fimile" – The well crafted and intentional off beat, off key tune caught everyone's attention  and everyone's feet. Wittingly coined as the "sharp sharp relationship break-up song", Fimile ran to the top of radio playlists in the heat of its release. A remix feat D'Banj and 2Face was released shortly afterwards.

  6. Da Grin- "Pon Pon Pon" – The sudden demise of Da Grin brought a bleak moment in the Nigerian music Industry but it also shot up the sales of his just released album - CEO- at the time. The hit single off the album, "Pon Pon Pon" as well as other hit songs including "Kondo" could be heard on every street, every corner, every car, every phone as everyone remembered the musical prowess of Barrack O'Grin.

  7.  Naeto C – "10/10" – The only MC with an MSC surely kept reminding us that it pays to stay on top of your grades as well as your career as he went to further his studies and got a Masters Degree, at the same time, dropping off another bonafide hit from his awaited debut album, "Super C".
Truely we got no choice but to agree...He's in a 10/10 state of mind.

  8. Goldie feat El Dee- "You Know It" – Goldie shook the industry with the release of her super hit single "You Know It". Everyone couldn't get enough of the stunning video and the infectious battle hook. Teaming up with hitmaker,ELDee surely gave her musical career a boost and gave her waning fans a new outlook on her music. PS: Didn't the ladies just love this one?

  9. Wizkid – "Holla at ya Boy" – Young, Cute and with a lot of swag, the WizKid sure got the ladies swooning with this one. The single was an immediate hit at its release and once again, anoda slogan was born.

  10. SugarBoy A1- "SwaggerMan Dope"/"BadMan"– Catching up on everyone real quick in all his sweetness is Wahala Media's boy wonder, SugarBoy A1.  First revealed, in the collaboration with ModeNine on "BadMan" and releasing his full song version which he tagged "SwaggerMan Dope",The HookMaster, as he's called, set the two tracks on fire. No matter which version was played at any event or gig with the SugarBoy on the mic, everyone sang along to the catchy hook, asking "the BadMan for that Bad Instrumental" and of cos, THEY GOT IT!.
The video of "SwaggerMan Dope" is slated for release this January.
