Covenant Voices are dropping their debut single dubbed, 'Children (Medley)' on 22nd July, 2015. The song was written by Covenant Voices, arranged and produced by Rev. Tim Omotoso, and recorded at KZN Music House in Greyville, Durban. South Africa. Their debut music video was produced also in July, 2015 by Ray Magagula at 3 separate locations in South Africa - The Phezulu Safari Park, Hillcrest; uMhlanga Lighthouse, and uMhlanga Pier in Durban, to be dropped in the month of August, 2015.
The song which is in a mixture of Zulu (South African language) and English illustrates how Children are singing, how Parents are praising and worshiping God till they come to joyful tears, making everyone happy. The song explains to all that Jesus died for our sins, and took us out of darkness. It also praises Jesus as the King of Heavens, and encourages every nation to arise and be ready because Jesus is coming back soon.
Within 2 days of uploading ‘Children’ on the Reverbnation Christian/Gospel chart [7 July 2015] it was number 6 in Durban, 119 in South Africa, and 6883 in the world. 48 hours later, the song started trending on reverbnation, and was number 2, 27, and 1792 respectively. MORE ABOUT COVENANT VOICES
The choir was founded and named in 2007 by Rev. Tim Omotoso, after he hosted gospel music auditions, a first for the organization in Durban. This became the first initiative of the Youth Empowerment Project (Y.E.P.) of Tim Omotoso Global Outreach.
It has to be said that the singers had no previous training or experience when the choir was formed, just raw talent waiting to be polished. In November 2007, Covenant Voices performed at the T.O.G.O Gala Dinner held at the Durban ICC in South Africa. The likes of President Jacob Zuma
(South Africa); Former Minister of Health (Kwazulu Natal) Ms. Peggy Nkonyane; and Managing Director of Igagasi FM, Ms. Pearl Sokhulu were just some of the dignitaries and prominent personalities that were invited to the gala event. After Covenant Voices had rendered their
anthems, Ms. Peggy Nkonyane echoed these words, “As I was listening to Covenant Voices earlier on, I’m sure many of us are asking ourselves when can we expect a CD, but I’d like to say that the minute one is released, I expect it to be sampled with this beautiful music. This kind of a talent should really be showcased all over Kwazulu Natal.”
Covenant Voices have also been graced to share the stage with well known South African Gospel artists like Pastor Benjamin Dube, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, to mention a few. They have further performed at the Gagasi Fm Christmas concert in December 2007, and the success of their performance credited them to perform again at the beach festival concert in the same year.
In 2008, Covenant Voices gave birth to the internationally acclaimed multi award winning girl band, Simply Chrysolite, who have obtained a staggering seven awards, all within seven years. Five of the awards are international.
