SAD NEWS: SAM SARPONG DIES AT 40 AFTER LEAPING OFF A BRIDGE

British-Ghanian Television Personality, Rapper, Model and Actor, Sam Sarpong has died after falling from a bridge in southern California.

According to reports, Police in Pasadena spent seven (7) hours attempting to talk the 40-year-old star down from the ledge on Monday October 26th, 2015, but he eventually jumped to his demise.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has said that the case is being investigated as a possible suicide but the cause of death would not be determined until the results of a toxicology test are released.

The British born actor and television personality moved to the US and forged a succesful career as catwalk model, working for Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci and Versace and became Louis Vuitton’s first black male model.

He is most famous for his work hosting Yo Mamma, a youth comedy show which aired on MTV between 2006 and 2007, as well as for working with BET and presenting the Best 
African Act at the BET Awards.

The older brother of Loose Women star June Sarpong later moved into acting and appeared in over 75 films and TV shows according to his IMDb page. 

In response to his death, his sister released this statement:
 “I love my brother very much. Sam was an amazing human being. His passing is a loss for the world. 
“I’d ask anyone who is going through tough times to seek help. Please talk to someone.”
She went on to say: “My family and I are in a state of shock, please allow us to grieve in private. Thank you for all your messages of condolence.”

In another statement, his family said: 

"It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Sarpong Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away.

"The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time.

"The family appreciates the thoughts prayers and other expressions of sympathy, and request their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time."

It is indeed a terrible loss, we pray for his friends and family at this time, that they have the fortitude to deal with his loss.
