Popular Nigerian singer and humanitarian, Nikki Laoye has just been given a honorary 234Giver Award for her advocacy and contribution to the social and educational development of the physically challenged in Nigeria.
A 234Giver is an individual that has contributed substantially towards the development of the country through giving or advocacy and is recognised as a leader and advocate for change.
Nikki Laoye, the founder of Angel 4 Life Foundation, was presented with the award on Friday, 20th of December, 2013, at the Lekki office of 234Give, Nigeria's first online fundraising platform - a company dedicated to empowering individuals and companies to raise funds for causes that improve and uplift their communities.(234Give recently helped to raise funds for the kidney surgery of Nigerian artiste & producer, OJB Jezreel)
The award, which reads "honouring Nikki Laoye in recognition of your exceptional contributions to positive social change", applauds the values of the Angel 4 Life Foundation, to improve the quality of life of the visually impaired in Lagos State via its initiative - The "Buy A Cane" Project,which kicked off in October 2012.
The project aims to raise funds to buy mobility aids (canes) and support the educational development of blind students and individuals in the society.
The foundation, which is a fully registered non-profit organisation, is presently preparing for its 2013 edition of "Christmas Day Out with Nikki Laoye" - a day of fun, trips and treats, which sees Nikki spending Christmas Day in the city of Lagos, with her special family consisting of visually impaired and physically challenged youths. They would spend the day, driving around town in chauffeur-driven cars, watch movies at the cinema, christmas shopping spree, with lots of foods and desserts...a day away from the closed up walls of the homes they are confined to daily.
