In trickles, the beginning sounds of rumours stirred across the social media walls of the almighty Twitter and soon enough, the low whispers slowly turned into loud screams as the smoke screen fell away and the letters of disbelief created a frightening sentence - GOLDIE IS DEAD!!!

Everyone scuttled to check media blogs; phone calls were made to verify this information; arguments and accusations of a publicity stunt were thrown  into the mix of confusion but at the stroke of midnight, THE BLACK VALENTINE was confirmed- the captivating Pop Star, Goldie Harvey aka 

Susan Adebimpe Filani had passed away on the evening of the world's most popular day, Feb 14th- Valentine's Day..

 

KEKE OGUNGBE & GOLDIE @ THE GRAMMY'S 2013 FEW DAYS AGO

President of Kennis Music, Keke Ogungbe released an official statement confirming the shocking and untimely death of the beautiful Pop Star, Goldie Harvey .

"On behalf of Kennis Music, I'm sad to officially confirm the shocking and untimely  passage of Nigeria's pop star, Goldie Harvey.  

With a  deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache at her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence  shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Awards. She was rushed to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. 

We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance Goldie passed away, the abundance of talent she has exhibited in her short  but eventful music career and the various  opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her. 

She is survived by her  father, step- mother, brothers and sisters. We deeply sympathise with her family and fans all over the world and are very grateful to all and sundry, especially, the vibrant Nigerian media  for their concern and prompt reportage. We shall keep everybody informed as events unfold as we are still  devasted by the sudden loss."

Kenyan rapper, Prezzo who was romantically linked with Goldie during the recently ended Big Brother Stargame TV show, has just put up a touching tribute on his facebook page: 

God saw you were getting tired, and a

cure was not meant to be

So he put his arms around you, and

whispered come with me

With tearful eyes we watched you, as

we saw you pass away

Although we love you deeply, we could

not make you stay

Your golden heart stopped beating,

hard working hands at rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us…

He only takes the best

Goldie had been working on her continental-wide musical project titled THE AFRICA INVASION ALBUM. The first 3 Singles - SKIBOBO featuring AY (Tanzania), MILIKI featuring NAVIO (Uganda), and GIVE IT TO ME featuring J MARTINS (Nigeria), have all recorded massive downloads worldwide since their release. She had also recently teamed up with her best friend, OAP; Denrele Edun, for their reality show, True Friendship. 

Sadly, the night has come for the one who shone so brightly in her own beautiful way and we say -
