SPECIAL FEATURE: NOMINEES UNVEILED FOR THE MAIDEN EDITION OF CRYSTAL GOSPEL AWARDS

The nominees for the maiden edition of Crystal Gospel Awards was unveiled last night, Thursday 21st February, 2013 in  a well-organised and well-attended Nominees Party in Lagos, Nigeria.

In his opening speech, The Executive Director, Mr. Adenekan Adebayo remarked: “Our particular interest in Gospel Music is borne out of our conviction that this sector is not being given its due recognition in the industry. Most music awards of excellence are dominated by secular artistes with only one, at most two slots allocated to Gospel Artistes. This had in no small measure impacted negatively on the morale of quite a number of Gospel Artiste who have over the years contributed immensely to the upliftment of people through inspiring songs of praise and worship.
This non-recognition has led quite a number of Artistes who are young in the faith, to go with the flow and delve into secular music.
Crystal Gospel Music Awards is inspired to fill these gaps and also create fertile grounds for and up and coming Gospel Artistes to break forth. Our goal is to close ranks among Christian music groups, chorale groups and Christian music journalists in order to bring the Christian Music industry at par with accepted world standards.”

The ultimate winner in each category will be determined by a transparent SMS voting system to be coordinated by CELLULANT Nigeria Limited, a Telecom value added service provider. The Artiste with the highest single vote in each category wins the award for that category. The more votes you can muster, the higher your chances of winning. (*see nominee list below)
The voting will run for a period of 3 months commencing on 21st February, 2013 to end May 31st, 2013.

To VOTE, send: CRYSTAL (Space) NAME (Space) CATEGORY to 33140.
You can only vote using GLO, Etisalat, Airtel and MTN networks.
Each SMS costs =N= 50.

The Crystal Awards Big Night is slated for Friday 21st June, 2013 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
